In 2006, the Washington based company Intelius was honored the Best New Company, better known as the Stevie Award, at the American Business Awards, the only group that currently gives a national award for outstanding performance in the American business industry. The event is the business counterpart of the Oscars and took place in New York City on July 12 at the Fourth Annual Stevie Awards celebration. Intelius received the Stevie Award with the approval of the award board’s staff, advisors, and distinguished judges.

Headed by Naveen Jain, the company empowers its consumers with intelligent information that allows them to make quick and smart daily business decisions. As a public records business, it provides background reports and identity theft protection.

CEO Jain thanked the judges for the recognition. He also related how the company has become an essential ally in making everyday decisions that affect our loved ones’ safety and security, as well as our businesses and assets. As examples of situations that require intelligent information, Naveen Jain cited instances when parents send their children to summer camp, or when one hires a contractor to work on home improvements. Hiring applicants at work is also a security issue.

Before founding Intellius, Naveen Jain was CEO of InfoSpace, an Internet search provider based in Washington. He left the company in December 2002 to found Intelius, which started supplying online analytical intelligence to businesses and consumers in 2003. The company then began to apply IDWatch, their specialty service that offers customers the ability to prevent identity theft, giving its users the perfect vehicle to carry out background checks and work history of possible applicants and old employees.

Since Intelius began in 2003, the company has taken hold of more than four million new and exclusive costumers. Over the years, it has become one of the leading companies in the information trade market.
