Hundreds of skiers will shortly be trying to find their ski trousers and dashing forth in search of the largest snow conditions.
And without doubt the affect of your carbon footprint will be about as far down the list of holiday essentials as a xmas cracker after the Christmas holidays.
Just last winter, a tardy snow was in the headlines and tourists were panic struck about the smattering of snow dissolving nearly as soon as they settled.
Ski organisation Chalet1802, based at the base of Mount Blanc in Chamonix France in the French Alps, is one of the first independent businesses to go carbon negative and offer snowboarders an environmentally friendly option while reserving their skiing holidays.
Chalet1802 founder Marley stated: Last year was quite a surprise with the most warm winter in 55 yrs in France. Snowboarding ski areas such as La Rosiere, Les Menuires and Plateau de Beille has difficulty. It was temperate and the snowfall didnt settle so much of the early winter ski season in the French Alps was patchy. We resolved to become carbon neutral to help preserve the ski resort.
Marley said: We’re not trying to prescribe to clients only I feel it’s crucial to afford the guests the choice without increasing the price of the skiing holiday. If the guest book with us and vacations in our chalet Chamonix they can more than off-set their carbon footprint and we take in the added costs. Of course we still have a sauna and a hot tub – clients require luxury but not at the expense of the environs, so we considered ways of diminishing the affect of a skier traveling over here for a holiday.”
The company have moreover joined with charity Climate Care, which attacks global warming by providing carbon dioxide deductions for individuals and businesses.
What were the top stories of this pass year.
Well, 2002 is just about over with but before we say hit the road jack to this year and welcome a New Year I think it is important to look back.
Now we should not live in the pass but we should look at it to see what we need change in the New Year and what we should keep doing as families, a nation, people, and individuals.
What was the top news stories of this pass year?
Some spiritual leaders in the Catholic Church abused kids.
I think it is sad whenever a child is abused no matter who does it but it is an added outrage when it is done by so called spiritual leaders.
I am also concern because as a person who works with youth I am seeing it impact on all youth workers including ones who have done nothing wrong.
Today you cannot not do what you once did but please know folks there are many good youth workers who love young people and their God.
The summer of 2002 I think will be recalled as the year that kids were kidnapped, abused, and killed even from their own yards. The day that parents could let their kids play in front of there houses and not have to watch them are gone.
In 2002 we also saw kids doing adult crimes including killing others. We thought we could teach young people that God was dead and that it does not matter how you live without paying price. The Bible tells us we weep we we sow.
This pass year we saw the war in the middle east keep going on and people being killed because of their faith or doing suicide bombings because that is what their God taught.
In 2002 we still recalled what happen a year ago on September 11, 2001, and the 911 war against terror went on.
I think we will be talking about that for awhile and perhaps will see the USA go to war with Iraq only God knows what will happen but we need to pray.
Only God knows what is ahead for the New Year but if we seek Him and keep our eyes on Him we will be able to handle anything that happens no matter if it feels like a blessing or a curse. We can do all things through Him.
